FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the first session work?
Our first session is a chance to get to know one another and for you to determine if you feel comfortable and your therapist is a good fit for you. This is very important for your own success in therapy. Your therapist will provide a safe space where you can give feedback on your comfort level. We will spend time getting to know your struggles, goals and hopes for therapy.
Will you throw me in the hospital if I come in and say I have had or have suicidal thoughts?
This is a common fear people have. We assess risk before we recommend hospitalization. Having suicidal thoughts is very different from having a clear plan to harm yourself. It is better to talk about these thoughts openly so they do not get worse and turn into plans where we need the hospital. If you are open and honest with us we will do everything we can to keep you out of the hospital.
How much does therapy cost?
This depends on your insurance provider. Often you may owe a copay or deductible and we will do our best to inform you of these costs as soon as we hear back from your insurance. If you choose not to use insurance you will discuss a private pay fee with your therapist. In the case of Medicaid plans you often will not owe anything for therapy.
