Frequently Asked Questions

How does the first session work?

Our first session is a chance to get to know one another and for you to determine if you feel comfortable and your therapist is a good fit for you.  This is very important for your own success in therapy.  Your therapist will provide a safe space where you can give feedback on your comfort level.  We will spend time getting to know your struggles, goals and hopes for therapy.

Gage Peavler LMSW

I am a therapist passionate about listening to the stories of others. I provide a safe space to tackle difficult issues and heal from the effects of trauma. In the past I found myself in therapy, and when my therapist helped me improve the quality of my life I decided I wanted to sit in his chair one day. I’ve devoted my career to that pursuit. You may be seeking therapy due to crippling anxiety, exhausting depression or to lift the weight trauma has placed on you. You may want to learn strategies to improve your focus and move you closer to your goals. Perhaps you want to get closer to loved ones and communicate in a healthier way with those around you.  Whatever you bring I am here to work beside you.  I’m confident that if we work together you can make changes, feel better and get more out of life.

I graduated from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor in 2020 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.  Social workers treat the entire person and their environment without judgement.  My time spent working in public mental health as a crisis therapist gave me a greater understanding of the barriers our community faces and the underlying trauma affecting people.  My approach is flexible, client centered and targeted at genuine exploration of core issues.
